Profhilo has taken the Aesthetics industry by storm as one of the most popular treatments to have alongside 'Botox' and dermal fillers. So what is it?
Profhilo is an injectable skin remodelling treatment, made from Hyaluronic acid designed to hydrate and help with skin laxity. It plumps, hydrates, reduces fine lines and wrinkles and gives you that youthful glow back into your skin. Two treatments are recommended, 4 weeks apart, but can then give you relatively instant and long lasting results.
Is Profhilo a replacement for botox?
Whilst Profhilo is an amazing skin treatment, it isn't the answer to all ageing skin woes. It certainly will slow down and improve the forming of lines and wrinkles by hydrating the skin, but the best treatment for preventing and smoothing deeper wrinkles, still remains to be botox. The combination of both treatments, work brilliantly together to give you that youthful appearance and slow down the ageing process. Of course, for those of you who have been avoiding botox as are worried it will be noticeable/ are nervous of the effects, and looking for a more 'gentle' approach, Profhilo is a great place to start.
Is it painful?
To be honest, it isn't the most comfortable treatment, people tend to liken the feeling to a bee sting, although it is a very quick procedure and is totally worth it! We will always use a local anaesthetic at each injection point, and you are welcome to have some paracetamol prior to the treatment to make it more comfortable.
What is the downtime?
Downtime is relatively short. You tend to see small bumps where the product is placed before it disburses around the face. These tend to go down between 1-48 hours post treatment. There is always the risk of mild swelling and bruising but this would typically go down within a few days. Most people are back to normal within 24 hours.
